ScootersA scooter is a small motorcycle carrying its motor under the driver’s seat. This vehicle is perfect to move around the city, to go to work, do shopping, or just go around the city for fun. This motorcycle is a great alternative for people who want a vehicle of their own to drive through short distances. A scooter works perfectly in the city or the countryside (if the roads are in good conditions), but they are no good to cover long distances, or to go on vacation to other country region.

As typical signs of scooter design we can deal with the space to place your feet, the compartment to keep objects, and the frontal protection for legs. The small «floor» where you can place your feet is, surely, the most distinctive sign of the scooter. None other type of motorcycle has this design feature. The space to place your feet on is in between the seat and the handlebar of the motorcycle; this area is big enough to be comfortable and allow the driver to drive without being an expert on the skill. Because of the scooter shape, this motorcycle is the best option for people who do not feel comfortable on it, but still need it.

Usually the compartment to keep objects is under the seat, the handler bar, or both. This compartment is not very big, but it is very useful to keep documents and some emergency tools. These small trunks are typical of scooters, and many people use them to carry shopping bags in them. However, if you are thinking of using this vehicle to go to the supermarket, it is convenient for you to put a scooter basket so you can carry more things.

The legs protection is nothing but the vehicle chassis. As opposed to other motorcycle models, in the scooter the driver’s legs are not on the sides but inside the vehicle. That is to say, the legs are placed on the small floor and behind the handlebar shell, where the motorcycle motor mechanism is. Thus, the driver’s lower limbs are protected from other vehicles bumps.

Scooters have the smallest motor of all motorcycle models. A scooter cylinder capacity ranges from 30cc and 250cc, and has only one cylinder. Scooters with 49cc or less fall into the “moped” category. Mopeds do not need as much permits to circulate as motorcycles with more cylinder capacity do. Generally, a license is not necessary to drive these vehicles. Some scooters have two-stroke engines, and others four-stroke engines. Some two-stroke engines are cooled by automatic injection air lubricator and others by water. As time goes by and given the gas emanation restrictions, factories prefer to build scooters with four-stroke engines.

Scooters are the perfect motorcycle model to start using a vehicle with two wheels. Given that you take more risks by driving a motorcycle than a car and the motorcycle requires minimum skills y practice, scooters are a very good option to start. Additionally, due to its few age and license restrictions and its small motor, which neither reaches high speed nor consumes a lot of fuel, scooters are perfect for young people who want to venture into the fascinating world of motorcycles.
